After five wonderful years, it's time to say goodbye to university and hello to the real world.
I can't say I'll miss writing essay after essay but some part of me will miss having that ridged structure of going to class, completing assignments, and studying. It seemed so simple compared to the complex world of adulthood. Chances are as a working journalist I won't have the luxury of an organized and set schedule. The news stops for no one! But that's alright. Change might be scary but it's fun. It's a chance to try something new and learn new things about yourself and the world around you.
And speaking of change, in 15 days I will leave the quiet city of Ottawa (for a capital not much happens here) for the loud and busy urban jungle of Toronto. As far as change goes, it's not a big as say moving to Ghana or Japan, but like any move, it's the unfamiliarity that makes you nervous.
I spent the previous summer in Toronto, but due to work I saw so little of the city that I feel as though I am going for the first time. This time I hope to explore the city more and get a real feel for what it means to live in Toronto. Of course, that means taking a lot more photos and writing a lot more stories.
To anyone from Toronto, what about your city interests you? What are some of the questions you have about your city, from what goes on at city hall to what's making news in your community? I'd love to hear what's on your mind!
